VACCINE SAFETY AND EFFICACY

Immunizations save 2.5 million lives a year, according to the World Health Organization. To date, the widespread use of vaccines has virtually eradicated smallpox and has reduced the incidence of polio by 99%.  Effective implementation of global strategies for immunization can further increase the number of lives saved and push a number of other vaccine-preventable diseases toward extinction.
